CALL FOR PROPOSALS
What We’re Looking For
We welcome proposals across painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, fiber, mixed media, installation, and other visual-art practices. Representational and abstract work are equally encouraged. Standalone 2D photography is not accepted; photographic elements incorporated into mixed-media work may be considered.
Selected artists will receive a custom, Polaroid-inspired shadow box fabricated and shipped by Metal Haus Gallery, with:
A 4 × 4-inch working area and approximately 2 inches of interior depth
Subject matter is open. Artists are encouraged to think creatively about the small format, using depth, texture, layering, or detail to draw viewers closer.
This is a call for proposals. Submit drawings, sketches, or digital mockups showing what you intend to create, along with a short description and examples of previous work.

Important Considerations
Before submitting, please confirm that:
You are based in California.
You are submitting only one application. There is no fee to apply.
All artwork will remain within the supplied box, with no extensions beyond its front, sides, or frame.
The white Polaroid border will remain pristine. An optional artist signature may be added at the bottom right.
Any special materials, fabrication, or installation requirements are clearly described in your proposal.
You can complete and deliver the work by the deadline.
The artwork will be available for the full duration of the exhibition.
MHG will supply and ship one box per accepted proposal. Artwork prices may vary.

About the Exhibition
Metal Haus Gallery is an intimate home gallery in San Francisco. In An Instant brings together miniature works in matching, Polaroid-inspired shadow boxes, presented in a single row throughout the gallery.
The familiar white border provides a shared starting point. Inside, each artist brings a different approach to image, material, and dimension. Together, the works invite visitors to slow down, lean in, and discover how much a small space can hold.
