About the Artwork
Chimera #2 is an abstract interpretation of a haunting dreamscape—set in a shadowy motel, watching an unknowable beast through slatted blinds. The figure remains elusive: part skull, part roar, part myth. Vibat conjures the creature not through clear form, but through texture, gesture, and atmospheric tension.
Painted in his intuitive, unplanned method, this work captures the moment between perception and uncertainty—where recognition dissolves into mystery. Through sweeping black marks and diffused splatters, Chimera #2 pulls the viewer into that hazy space of trying to name something that refuses to be named.
About the Artist
Amadeo Vibat is a multidisciplinary artist whose primary medium is watercolor—a choice driven by its immediacy, unpredictability, and emotional resonance. His abstract process is rooted in spontaneity: no sketches, no references, only the present moment and the marks it demands.
Inspired by dreams, memory, and the shadowy spaces of the psyche, Vibat often enters a trance-like state while painting, letting go of conscious control to access something deeper. He likens this surrender to the dream state—one where imagery arises without logic, yet feels intensely true.
Vibat’s practice blurs the boundary between abstraction and the subconscious figure, where a face or form might flicker into existence before dissolving again. Through each piece, he invites the viewer into this dance of emergence and erasure—where meaning is found not in clarity, but in feeling.
