About the Artwork
Floating in the Space Suspended by Nothing is a portal into the unseen. In this intuitive mixed media painting, Tatti Carvalho maps a liminal world between waking and dreaming—where myth, memory, and subconscious symbolism surface through layers of texture, collage, and gestural abstraction.
Raw red strokes cut across the canvas like ritual markings, while sacred iconography, playful fragments, and cryptic text emerge beneath layers of paint and paper. The work is not meant to be decoded, but experienced. As in a dream, meanings shift depending on the viewer's state of mind.
This piece, like all of Carvalho’s work, is both a mirror and a map—an invitation to surrender control and enter the infinite.
About the Artist
Tatiana “Tatti” Carvalho is a self-taught abstract expressionist originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Deeply influenced by Jungian psychology, ancestral symbols, and her own spiritual practice, Carvalho views each artwork as a ritual—a way to reveal what lives beneath the surface of consciousness.
Her process is raw and intuitive: she begins with sensation rather than intention, allowing gesture, collage, and energy to guide her through the piece. Carvalho’s richly layered compositions draw from personal myth, dream symbolism, and collective archetypes to offer viewers a visual language beyond words.
Now based in the United States, Carvalho continues to explore the boundary between chaos and clarity—between the wild feminine and the cosmic void—through painting. Her studio is a sacred space for channeling the unseen.
