Systems of Belief brings together works that construct self-contained realities through material, repetition, and control. Across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, each piece is built through a deliberate process of arrangement, layering, and compression.

What appears immediate at first glance reveals, up close, a deeper process of construction. Organic elements are reorganized, surfaces are accumulated, and language is condensed into direct statements supported by complex material histories.

Material + Process

Butterfly wings are arranged into precise compositions that balance fragility with control, transforming biological material into structured visual systems. Layered, hand-painted paper builds topographic surfaces that resemble landscapes or distant terrains. These works map spaces that feel familiar yet remain unplaceable. Text-based works reduce language to essential statements. Stark and direct at a distance, they are built over dense, textured surfaces that emerge through closer looking.

Viewing Experience

Presented within a darkened, controlled environment, the exhibition is designed to focus attention and reduce visual noise. Each work is individually lit to emphasize surface, depth, and detail. From a distance, the works read as resolved and cohesive. As you move closer, layers, edges, and material shifts begin to surface. The exhibition invites a slower mode of looking, where meaning unfolds through proximity and time.
